You're invited! Our fundraiser for Zellnor Myrie for New York City Mayor
State Senator Myrie has been described as “the perfect abundance candidate”
I’m hosting a house party fundraiser for State Senator Zellnor Myrie. Senator Myrie has the most ambitious housing plan of any of the New York City mayoral candidates, proposing we build 700,000 new housing units in the next decade and preserve 300,000 more.
Although he’s not the most well-known candidate, he has received endorsements from Manhattan Congressman Dan Goldman and from writer Matthew Yglesias’s Slow Boring, describing him as “the perfect abundance candidate.”
You can learn more about the event, the Mayor’s Race, and Myrie in the FAQs below:
Event FAQ
I haven't been keeping up with the Mayor's race. Should I still attend?
Yes! If you come and learn something new about Myrie and the election, then the event is a success in our eyes. Right now, media coverage is centered on two candidates and we want to help change that.
Is there an event agenda?
The event will start at 6pm. You are strongly encouraged to mingle with attendees - we're all here to learn and embrace abundance for the city. Around 6:30, Senator Myrie will arrive. After a quick stump speech, there will be time for Q&A. The event will end at 7:30.
Do I have to donate now, or at some point in the future?
No, we do not want donating to be a barrier to participation. That said, this is a fundraiser and we want to support the Myrie campaign. On the high end, one attendee has already pledged $500 for the fundraiser.
Is there a dress code?
The last house party fundraiser I went to was business casual, but I wouldn't worry much about this.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nope! We will have some appetizers and drinks at the event.
What is hosting a fundraiser like?
I’m learning as we go! But, here’s a write-up for a fundraiser I attended last fall:

To encourage a more level playing field, the city matches donations to candidates who opt in 8-to-1, up to $250 per contributor. Candidates can receive up to $7M. Read more here.
What is the donation limit for the Mayor's race?
For candidates participating in matching funds, the contribution limit is $2,100. Read more here.
How much have candidates raised so far?
Interestingly, there is a dashboard for this:
Go to Campaign Finance Summary: 2025 Citywide Elections
(Note the date of the data - as of this writing, the data is for the March 17 2025 filing)
Click on “Mayor”
Scroll down to the graphs, click on “Total Contribution Amounts ($)” tab
Myrie FAQ
How can I learn more about Zellnor Myrie?
Besides his campaign website, the campaign encouraged me to check out his interview with the New York Editorial Board newsletter:
I linked to it earlier in this post, but Slow Boring also has a good post on Myrie:
You can also follow him on X at @zellnor4ny - he posts frequently.
I may do a follow-up post with more fleshed-out thoughts on why I think Myrie is the abundance candidate in this race - stay tuned for that!
Sounds like it’ll be a great event. I’ll be there!
